Make the Most of Your Autumn Weekends: Reclaim Precious Time this Autumn

ree

As the days grow shorter and the autumn light fades earlier, I know how precious our weekends can feel. The last thing any of us want is to spend a Saturday buried under a mountain of laundry or taking on that overflowing hallway cupboard. That’s why I’m passionate about helping busy women reset their homes and streamline their days so when the weekend comes, you’re free to spend it doing what you truly love.

My ReCalm Philosophy is about turning down the noise of “too much” — too much stuff, too many to-dos, too much mental clutter. Think of it like giving your home or specific area within your home an autumn reset. A kitchen reset is a great one to start with and you’d be amazed at the difference of reassessing where items live, tackling that dreaded collection of tupperware and saying goodbye to the “sh*t drawer” for good. And the best part? I can take this off your plate and do it for you. Once a room is reset and a few simple systems are in place — a calm spot for paperwork, a routine for kids’ gear, or a quick way to keep on top of daily clutter — everything flows more easily. And when that happens, your weekends open up. Instead of catching up, you get to live.

Here are six practical ideas to get started:

  1. Reset key rooms or zones. Clear surfaces, organise spaces, and give everything a home. If you don’t have time or the energy to do this yourself, you can work alongside me or hand me the reins — either way, we focus on visible results in just two hours (for more info on my ReSet - Home package, click here).

  2. Start small. It doesn’t have to be a whole room — it can be something as small as one drawer. Then move on to the next area and the next. It won’t happen overnight, but by chipping away little by little, you’ll soon feel more organised.

  3. Compartmentalise. Splitting larger storage areas into smaller sections makes it so much easier to find things. I love Ikea drawer dividers for clothing and Muji storage boxes for utility items. Pro tip: Work out what you need to store first (e.g. kitchen foil, stationery, chargers) before buying lots of containers.

  1. Use active vs inactive areas wisely. Don’t keep items you rarely use in your busiest spaces (kitchen, living room, bedroom). Store them instead in labelled boxes or bags in “inactive areas” like the attic, garage or guest room.

  2. Create a “Put Away” basket. Keep a basket handy for items that stray from their homes. Pop them in throughout the week, then return everything in one go — far easier than endless little trips.

  3. Plan your meals. Carve out 15 minutes a week to sit down with a cuppa, and a few recipe books for inspiration if needed, to meal plan for the following week. This saves time and stress in the long run. Book an online delivery or click & collect slot so food shopping doesn’t eat into your weekends.

For me, it’s never about a perfect, picture-ready home. It’s about creating a calmer rhythm that works for real life. When your home supports you, rather than drains you, you’ll notice the difference not just in your space — but in the way you feel, and in how you spend your time.

This autumn, I’d love to help you reclaim your weekends and make more room for the things that really matter. For more information about how I can help, check out my services here.
